Candidate must possess the following skills: Strong work ethic, oral and written communication, planning, teamwork, decision making, good judgment, problem solving, and the ability to coordinate with and support other members of a survey crew.
The Survey Field Intern will take direction from and assist the Party Chief in Land Surveying projects to facilitate Engineering, Design, Land Acquisition, Construction, and other various survey applications. The majority of the tasks will result in topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys as well as construction of highways, bridges, drainage features, utilities, and other improvements. An understanding of and experience in AutoCAD is beneficial.
The Survey Field Intern will assist in the following duties:
Location and collection of field data using GPS and robotic total station.
Completing setup/teardown, adjustment, and operation of various equipment used at job sites.
Measuring, recording, and calculating data based on readings from instruments and calculations provided.
Maintaining clear and accurate field notes and sketches.
Routine equipment maintenance and stocking/organizing supplies.
Locating, identifying, and setting field monumentation including section/property corners, control points, and benchmarks.
Hammering stakes, pins, nails, and other markers.
Regularly walking, standing, stooping, digging, clearing brush, traversing a variety of terrain situations, and occasionally lifting, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
Ability and willingness to work outdoors for sustained periods of time in different weather conditions.
Walking extended distances while carrying equipment and supplies.
Effective time management.
Other duties as directed.
Candidate must possess an Oklahoma Driver’s License and have reliable transportation to and from work. Out of town work for short periods of time may be required for the position.
The intern position has the potential for full time employment as a regular employee.
