Knowledge of Ajera Complete is a plus.

The Engineer Technician prepares construction plans in the civil engineering field. Strong technical skills, experience, and abilities in coordinating with other members of the project team, and ability to communicate well. Assists the design engineers or surveyors in the production of construction plans or stake out files for projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, and roadways.

The Technician will have the following duties:

  • Assists on other tasks such as: preparation of permit applications, material testing, drawings, and computer- aided design (CAD) work.

  • Completes general fieldwork as necessary to assess site conditions and determine survey requirements for new projects, as well as construction inspection.

  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Assists in the application of civil engineering design services including municipal, County and ODOT roadway, commercial site development, and stormwater modeling and design projects.

  • Prepares drafts of construction plans to clearly illustrate the project for the contractor, resident engineer and others involved in the project.

  • Develops plans and estimates costs for installation of systems, utilization of facilities, or construction of structures.

  • Drafts detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects to ensure conformance to specifications.

  • Analyzes proposed site factors and design plans, graphs, tracings, and diagrams to illustrate findings.

  • Reads and reviews project blueprints and structural specifications to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements.

  • Estimates costs, assists in preparing proposals as well as establishing completion dates.

  • Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for projects.

  • Displays effective time management.
